2006 CHRYSLER 300C C Description:
The 300C is Detroit, with a little help from Germany, dusting off fundamental verities for another run. The Chrysler 300 is clearly bold and, we would argue, cool. But mostly the styling is uncompromising and Chrysler makes no apologies for a standout performance among others in its class.
The 300C looks dramatic in profile. The sedan roofline, a sort of '30s gangster tease, beautifully complements the lines which are long, low and carved as if from a big horizontal block of metal. The roof rakes thickly down to a short deck, and the sides are like large slabs. The long hood glides forward and drops off a cliff whose face is the massive grille, so strong it dictates the car's lines.
The engine is very performance-focused, with a 5.7 liter Hemi V-8 and 340 hp. Big torque can't be underestimated for its fun and convenience. Power flows evenly though the five-speed automatic transmission and, when stood on, the engine plays a soundtrack straight from the '60s: Mopar Muscle's Greatest Hits. The chassis and suspension are derived from the Mercedes "E" class, and will still feel stable and comfortable at speeds well over 100. The 300C is as solid as it looks. You can expect fuel economy of 17/24mpg city/hwy.
The interior of the Chrysler 300 is marked by spacious silence and indulgent comfort. The door openings are extra large, making climbing in and out noticeably easier and more pleasant. It's a very clean cockpit. Our 300C has a center stack that is elegantly functional and all business. What a joy not to have to play games with the controls and switchgear to get them to function.
This Chrysler 300C truly represents. Is it the look of a Bentley Mulsanne massaged by Monster Garage? The Hemi V-8 under the hood? The recycled Mercedes-Benz E-class underpinnings?
